Pro's: - The angle of the shot, with palm trees in the background.
- The lighting in the scene, reflection on glass and foam.
Con's: - Foam was harder to make then I thought. While doing some R&D, I found 2 programs that would help meshing out the particles for the foam. They are called 'Krakatoa' and 'Frost,' made by Thinkbox Software. But unfortunately I cant use these programs because the price is out of my budget as well as time frame. http://www.thinkboxsoftware.com/krakatoa-realflow-and-frost/
- The background is not moving. I found some motion background, but the environment are completely different. For portfolio creation I I'm going to keep using this tropical beach environment and then switch to a VideoBlocks motion background. http://www.videoblocks.com/search/?keywords=beach
Although I'm not a modeler, I feel like this artist has really capture the lighting and style that I was looking for. Maybe after I finishing mine, I could create an account with creative crash and see if other artist or potential employer are looking for a beer simulation.
Anyway, really appreciate the art work done by VKModels. Great job !
There are still some thing I would like change but so far its looking nice. I really like the color of light that the IBL gives off. I found this perfect websit that teaches you how to make your own IBL but also gives out free HDRI images.
Here a sneak peek of what is about to come. I cant wait to add texture to the limes as well as the water droplets. Stay tun for more on the Corona beer simulation !
For my final shot I would like limes to fall into a pool of water. I tried experimenting with some new tools in realflow. I used particles to make the splashes and a realwave to make the ripples when the limes fall into the pool of water.
After watching the playblast from maya, I noticed some thing I could improve. I have to shrink the particle mesh so it resembles water more and for the realwave I will add more ripples when the limes and water droplets hit the surface.
Instead of making the whole beer simulation in one shot, I will do it in many different shots. Any way here is a quick test render on what I have so far:
Today I should add some materials and texture to the liquid as well as the geometry.
After some adjustment on the particles mesh, the liquid stay inside the bottle and glass. But after watching the render test, I saw that the liquid come out of the bottle too fast, allowing no air to cycle through. I will have to fix this as well as add some bubbles and foam to resemble a realistic beer.
Here is a quick test render showing the style and color of my beer simulation.
